Nassau: rules and scoring

Three matches in one round, so a bad front nine never ends your day.

How it works

  • Two sides play three matches at once: the front nine, the back nine and the whole 18.
  • Each hole goes to the side with the lower score. In four-ball, each side counts its better ball.
  • A match is won by the side that wins more holes. A level match is halved.
  • Each match won earns 2 points; a halved match earns 1 point to each side.

Presses

When a side falls 2 down on a nine, a press starts: a new match from the next hole to the end of that nine. Baroo starts it for you, once per nine by default.

Groups can turn on “press the press” (a press can start its own press) or let players call presses by hand.

Strokes in a Nassau

In four-ball, each player gets 90% of their Strokes, taken off the lowest player in the group, so the best player plays off zero. In singles each player gets their full Strokes off the low. Your group can change both in its game settings.

Play it in Baroo

Pick Nassau from the game library, choose the sides, and Baroo scores every match and press hole by hole as the cards come in. The points land in the group’s game ledger.
