How it works

  • Play in teams of two, each partner with their own ball.
  • On every hole the better net score of the two counts for the team.
  • The lowest team total wins.
  • Places earn 8, 4 and 2 points to each partner.

Who plays with whom

By default the pairs come from the tee sheet: the first two players in a group against the next two. Your organizer can set the teams by hand instead. Played as a match rather than a total, the same format is a four-ball match.

A worked example

Strokes in best ball

Each player gets 85% of their Strokes, the usual allowance for four-ball, because the better ball already helps the team.
